Who Should Get a Flu Vaccine?

Many people do not understand the importance of receiving a Flu Vaccine yearly. The flu can potentially be very dangerous. Thousands of people every year are hospitalized because of the flu virus and it can even lead to death. Many people do not receive a Flu Vaccine yearly because they are unaware that they are available or they are skeptical. Many people also feel that they might not personally need to get a flu vaccine and that they do not fall under a category of individuals who should receive one. Everyone from infants, to children, to middle aged adults and elders, are eligible to receive a Flu Vaccine.

The flu vaccination will help keep everyone healthy as well as help to prevent the influenza virus spreading rapidly. While it is important for everyone, it is even more crucial for individuals with weaker immune systems. Those who are considered to be in desperate need of receiving a Flu Vaccine include adults age 65 or older, children with chronic health problems, and adults with heart disease, diabetes, and asthma.  Flu Vaccine is also important for people who live with or care for individuals in these categories. It is important to understand the importance of receiving a Flu Vaccine and to make sure to consider getting one yearly if you don’t already! Stay healthy!
