Going to your doctor and getting a flu vaccine before the start of flu season is the best way to protect yourself against the flu this flu season. If you don’t get a flu vaccination and become ill, there’s a chance that you’ll deal with body aches. This is a tell-tale sign of the flu virus, but fortunately, there are ways to ease the pain.
- When choosing a medication to treat flu symptoms, select a medication that includes a pain reliever, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen. This reduces inflammation, helping calm aches and pain. Take the medication as directed.
- Changing your position may also relieve body aches. Moving around too much will tire you out, but if you’ve been lying in bed all day, perhaps you can move to the couch. Placing a soft blanket or pillow underneath your body may also alleviate pressure points, which can ease any body aches.
- Using a heating pad is another way to soothe sore muscles. Unfortunately, if you have a fever, using a heating pad may add to your discomfort.
