Affordable Flu Vaccines for Everyone

Free or discount flu vaccines are available for insured and uninsured Americans. The average cost of a flu vaccine can range from $5 to $30 depending upon your location.

Flu Vaccines Covered Under Wellness Plans

Thanks to provisions of the Affordable Care Act, the cost of a flu vaccine is covered as preventative care. Depending upon the primary reason for the doctor visit, some health insurers will not even require a co-payment for patients obtaining a flu shot.

Discount Flu Vaccines for Uninsured

Discount vaccines are available for those without health insurance. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggests annual flu shots as the most effective method in preventing the flu for those six months of age and older.

Based on the CDC’s recommendation, members of the health care industry encourage flu vaccines by making them affordable. During flu season, which is typically in the fall, affordable and even free vaccines are available at drug and grocery stores, health fairs, schools, clinics and other facilities.
